Who we are

PubsInBangalore is run by a small independent team. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any pub, brewery, chain or delivery app. The aim is simple: one place to compare every pub in the city by area, by kind of night out, and by the facts that decide where you go, such as rating, opening hours and cost for two.

Where the listings come from

Each listing starts from public business listings, chiefly Google Maps: the pub's name, address, map location, Google rating and review count, opening hours, venue type and photos. Ratings are always shown as Google's, with the number of reviews behind them, so you can judge how much weight a score deserves.

Details that public listings rarely carry, such as cost for two, cover charges and stag or couples entry policies, are shown only where we have them on record; we never fill a gap with a guess. Pub owners and managers can send us corrections and missing details; see below.

How rankings work

Our "best of" lists and category pages (breweries, rooftop pubs, live music and so on) rank pubs by their Google rating weighted by review volume, using a Bayesian average with a prior of 300 reviews. In practice, a 4.4 built on two thousand reviews ranks above a 4.8 from thirty. A pub qualifies for a category from its venue type and recorded features, and every page refreshes when our pub data does.

Rankings are computed, not sold: no pub can pay to appear on a list or to move up one.

Money and independence

The site earns nothing from pubs today: no listing fees, no sponsored placements, no commissions. We also help companies plan team outings through group bookings. If that or anything else ever earns money, this page will say so, and it will never affect where a pub ranks.

Corrections and pub owners

Spotted a wrong detail, or a pub that has closed or is missing? Own or manage a pub and want its hours, prices or entry policy shown? Send us a DM on Instagram with the pub's name and locality. We check every change against the venue before it goes live.
